What To Expect
When you show up for Sunday morning worship you will encounter a multi-generational range of individuals and families. Some folks have been members for fifty or more years and multiple generations. Others may have just begun taking part within the last year or two. Some of our members dress in their Sunday best for worship, others wear what is a bit more comfortable for them. But what a person wears and how long they’ve attended are not the overriding concerns that we have on Sunday, or any other day of the week.
We come to worship the living God who is in our midst, to listen for what God has to say to us, and to respond in a way that is faithful to what we have heard. We do that together because we understand church to be less about the building we’re in and more about the community that is created by the Spirit of God as it moves among us. In this community of God’s choosing we find a life together- a life that affirms the gift each person brings to the whole, a life of learning how to love one another the way God, through Jesus, has loved us. Our hope is that by learning and practicing this way of love with one another, we will be equipped as disciples of Jesus to carry that love into our daily lives- at home, at work, and in everything we do.
You can expect to be welcomed here, regardless of where you are coming from. We are genuinely glad to see new faces. But we aren’t selling anything so you don’t have to worry about the hard sell. We would love to get to know you, and to include you in our mission to shine the light of Christ’s love here in downtown Sioux City. We expect you might have some questions and ideas that we haven’t considered and the thought of that is pretty exciting for us.
Our hope is that you will find a home here where you can grow in your knowledge and love of God, and God’s Son, Jesus Christ our Lord, with a church family who want to be a part of what God is up to in the world.
